Inflation driven by scalar field with non-minimal kinetic coupling with Higgs and quadratic potentials

We study a scalar field with non-minimal kinetic coupling to itself and to the curvature. The slow rolling conditions allowing an inflationary background have been found. The quadratic and Higgs type potentials have been considered, and the corresponding values for the scalar fields at the end of inflation allows to recover the connection with particle physics.Comment: 16 pages, to appear in JCA

On the Ricci dark energy model

We study the Ricci dark energy model (RDE) which was introduced as an alternative to the holographic dark energy model. We point out that an accelerating phase of the RDE is that of a constant dark energy model. This implies that the RDE may not be a new model of explaining the present accelerating universe.Comment: 8 page

General Non-minimal Kinetic coupling to gravity

We study a new model of scalar field with a general non-minimal kinetic coupling to itself and to the curvature, as a source of dark energy, and analyze the cosmological dynamics of this model and the issue of accelerated expansion. A wide variety of scalar fields and potentials giving rise to power-law expansion have been found. The dynamical equation of state is studied for the two cases, without and with free kinetic term . In the first case, a behavior very close to that of the cosmological constant was found. In the second case, a solution was found, which match the current phenomenology of the dark energy. The model shows a rich variety of dynamical scenarios.Comment: 25 pages, 3 figures; figure added, references adde

Exact solutions in a scalar-tensor model of dark energy

We consider a model of scalar field with non minimal kinetic and Gauss Bonnet couplings as a source of dark energy. Based on asymptotic limits of the generalized Friedmann equation, we impose restrictions on the kinetic an Gauss-Bonnet couplings. This restrictions considerable simplify the equations, allowing for exact solutions unifying early time matter dominance with transitions to late time quintessence and phantom phases. The stability of the solutions in absence of matter has been studied.Comment: 30 pages, 2 figures, to appear in JCA

Non-minimal kinetic coupling and Chaplygin gas cosmology

In the frame of the scalar field model with non minimal kinetic coupling to gravity, we study the cosmological solutions of the Chaplygin gas model of dark energy. By appropriately restricting the potential, we found the scalar field, the potential and coupling giving rise to the Chaplygin gas solution. Extensions to the generalized and modified Chaplygin gas have been made.Comment: 18 pages, 2 figures. To appear in EPJ

Exact Renormalization Group for O(4) Gauged Supergravity

    Get PDF
We study exact renormalization group (RG) in O(4) gauged supergravity using the effective average action formalism. The nonperturbative RG equations for cosmological and newtonian coupling constants are found. It is shown the existence of (nonstable) fixed point of these equations. The solution of RG equation for newtonian coupling constant is qualitatively the same as in Einstein gravity(i.e. it is growing at large distances).Comment: Latex file, 11 page

One-loop vacuum amplitude for D-branes in constant electromagnetic field

    Get PDF
Following Polchinski's approach we calculate the one-loop vacuum amplitude for two parallel D-branes connected by open bosonic (neutral or charged)string in a constant uniform electromagnetic (EM) field. For neutral string, external EM field contribution appears as multiplier (Born-Infeld type action) of vacuum amplitude without external EM field. Hence,it gives the alternative way to see the inducing of Born-Infeld type action for description of D-branes. For charged string the situation is more complicated, it may indicate the necessity to modify the induced D-branes action in this case.Comment: Latex file, 9page

Infrared cut-off proposal for the Holographic density

    Get PDF
We propose an infrared cut-off for the holographic the dark-energy, which besides the square of the Hubble scale also contains the time derivative of the Hubble scale. This avoids the problem of causality which appears using the event horizon area as the cut-off, and solves the coincidence problem.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figures, to appear in Phys. Lett.

New infrared cut-off for the holographic scalar fields models of dark energy

    Get PDF
Introducing a new infrared cut-off for the holographic dark-energy, we study the correspondence between the quintessence, tachyon, K-essence and dilaton energy density with this holographic dark energy density in the flat FRW universe. This correspondence allows to reconstruct the potentials and the dynamics for the scalar fields models, which describe accelerated expansion.Comment: 12 pages, references adde

Quantum Gravity effects near the null black hole singularity

    Get PDF
The structure of the Cauchy Horizon singularity of a black hole formed in a generic collapse is studied by means of a renormalization group equation for quantum gravity. It is shown that during the early evolution of the Cauchy Horizon the increase of the mass function is damped when quantum fluctuations of the metric are taken into account.Comment: 15 Pages, one figure.
